Este tipo de luz ultravioleta puede provocar quemaduras solares, envejecimiento de la piel e incluso c\u00e1ncer de piel. Los rayos UVB son la segunda longitud de onda m\u00e1s larga y, aunque son absorbidos en su mayor parte por la capa de ozono, a\u00fan pueden ser perjudiciales para los humanos.
