Happy EVS Week! As a long-time partner of your EVS team, Surfacide is proud to celebrate the extraordinary dedication of environmental services (EVS) professionals nationwide—individuals who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to protect patients, staff, and visitors every single day. As you we celebrate EVS Week, we wanted to share an initiative we’ve created to support professional development for the incredible people on your team.

EVS teams are the front line of defense against infection and play a critical role in the overall safety, cleanliness, and reputation of healthcare facilities. Their work goes far beyond cleaning—they help save lives, provide comfort, and create an environment where healing can thrive.

To honor this impact, several years ago we launched the Surfacide Shining Star Scholarship Award as a way to spotlight EVS employees across the U.S. who consistently go above and beyond in their work. Nominees should embody an unwavering commitment to excellence, championing both cleanliness and the creation of a welcoming, positive experience within their facilities.

One exceptional Shining Star will receive a professional development award valued at up to $1,099. The award may be used for full registration to attend the AHE Exchange27 Education and Solution Summit, August 8–11, 2027, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, or toward another approved educational opportunity of comparable professional value.

Alternative opportunities may include CHEST certification, a local industry conference, or a college course related to the recipient’s professional development. Funding is capped at $1,099 and may be applied only to documented, pre-approved expenses.

The AHE Exchange Summit brings together healthcare EVS professionals from across the country for education, networking, professional development, and opportunities to share ideas and solutions with peers.

The selected recipient will also be featured in a Surfacide announcement highlighting their contributions, accomplishments, and commitment to the EVS profession.
